We are into our final days of the “18 Days of Color” campaign, but we still have plenty of colors and branding stories to share. For background on this campaign and the Social Madness contest, you can read this post.
The color of the day is …
Recently, our CEO Jim Raffel attended a Social Media Club Milwaukee meeting which featured a talk from Jade Gurss, Director of Corporate Communication for Andretti Autosport. Raffel was chosen to tout the Milwaukee IndyFest (the official weekend starts today) as one of 26 social media representatives in the area. The race at the Milwaukee Mile is Saturday.
In Gurss’s talk, he described how the walls of the Milwaukee Mile were painted royal blue this year. (He even stopped to pose for a picture with our project manager Shelby Sapusek while wearing royal blue.) In a recent JSOnline chat, former Indy car driver Michael Andretti had this to say about the royal blue color:
Q: Jocelyn Michaels, Gays Mills, Wisconsin – Michael, I read on a blog that you might be painting the walls of the Milwaukee Mile for Milwaukee IndyFest, is that true? What color?
A: Michael Andretti – They’re going to be royal blue! We just think it will be look good – a nice contrast between the light pavement and the wall. We want it to look great on TV and in photos – when you see it, you want it to instantly have an identity. So, wherever you see it, you know it’s Milwaukee. The race will be televised on ABC in the US – and in 180 countries around the world – so we want it to look like a million bucks. Let;s show off the city and the track. It has great history and we want it to continue!
Royal blue brings out emotions such as loyalty and honesty. Making the Milwaukee Mile recognizable on TV and in photos using royal blue is our branding story of the day.
