Today, we kick off the first day of our “18 Days of Color” campaign to coincide with our participation in the Social Madness contest. As we explained in yesterday’s post, our social media success is being measured between June 1 and June 18 by our Twitter follows, Facebook likes, LinkedIn Connections and votes on the Social Madness website. To earn those connections and votes, we will post a social media update from either Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn that used a color reference to evoke emotion as it pertains to business.
Color No. 1 is …
Our first color post for “18 Days of Color” is a recent Twitter update from Michael Yormark, President & Chief Operating Officer of the Florida Panthers NHL Hockey Team. If you view the Panthers website, you’ll see that this particular color red is part of their brand. Yormack used red in this tweet to explain how sales, memberships and business in general were doing.
Red is an interesting color because it can evoke anger and feelings of danger. It’s a very emotionally intense color. But because of cliches such as “red hot,” Yormark was able to display more positive reactions: energetic, strong, powerful, passionate and determined.

I remember reading somewhere that the color red makes your heart beat faster too, which probably explains all that red lingerie.

I love it! Any color suggestions for Viral Workforce? We’re a new company looking to make job searching a more social, mobile and viral process. We’re in the small biz category in St. Louis Social Madness. Best of luck!

Jodi: Red is one of those colors that evokes such a wide variety of emotions … and yes, that is one of them! =)
Keren: I visited your website and while you have black as a base, I like that your call to action buttons are cyan. I would go with that color because it’s brighter and is an attention-getter. Good luck to you in your contest in St. Louis. I was just in your fair city a couple of weeks ago and took my first trip to the top of the Arch!
