It’s Day 8 of our “18 Days of Color” campaign in conjunction with the Social Madness contest. You can read this post for background. In our “18 Days of Color” campaign, we will post a social media update from either Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn that used a color reference to evoke emotion as it pertains to business.
The color of the day is …
Throughout the 18 Days of Color campaign, we have been stressing how important color is to personal and professional brands. Today’s color of orange comes from an example from designer Joshua Garity.
Back in October, Garity changed his vibrant orange avatar background to pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In the tweet above, he says he was surprised by how many people noticed. Maybe he shouldn’t have been so surprised though. In July, he made the list of “12 Most Captivating Twitter Avatars.”
Garity basically donated his brand color of orange to promote a worthy cause. While this was a great way to get a message across, it reminds us that your brand color does matter and people notice and respond when it is changed. Don’t believe us yet? Garity explained the phenomenon in almost the same way in his Twitter feed.
